Woman bets $18, wins 1.2 million in Kentucky Derby
At Caton Consultants we select horses we believe offer the best chances to win on horse racing's biggest days. The horses we select are based on careful research and analysis by our most experienced handicapping team. Two of our handicappers have over 37 years experience handicapping thoroughbred races and the other, has more than 30 years experience handicapping thoroughbred races and 20 years experience as an owner while serving on the state’s horse racing board.
On horse racing’s biggest days, we’ll handicap a particular track’s entire race card and post our selections on our website and make them available to you for a nominal fee. Big days, equals Big Pools which equals potentially Big Wins. What are the Big Days? Well, definitely the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont and Breeders Cup, but also several additional racing days with three or more graded stakes races on the program as well as mandatory payout days. Please check our calendar to see those days.
We’ve picked many big wins in the past. Most notably, we picked the $18 pick 5 ticket that paid $1.2 Million in the 2018 Kentucky Derby.

Margo
I have been a horse racing fan as far back as I can remember. I was born in Jamaica and lived there until my early teens after which I emigrated to the United States. As a teen I would visit the Meadowlands Race Track with my dad where I would pick horses based on their names or numbers. It was only when I was a junior in college after meeting two lifelong friends in a chemistry class that I started to appreciate the beauty of horse racing and the challenge that handicapping presented. I believe it was around 1990 that one of the friends that I met back in chemistry class kept saying we needed to go to Laurel Park for the Breeders Cup. I remember it was more crowded than usual that day at Laurel Park but more importantly it was absolutely exciting. It was horse racing on steroids, pardon the pun. That day at Laurel Park would begin a tradition that continues today-every first Saturday in May, and every first weekend in November I am at a race track with one of those friends from Chemistry class who is now my husband.
Trinidad Mike
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, I am a surgical technician by profession. I first got into horse racing back in 1990 while living and working in Washington, D.C. A good friend took me to Laurel Race Course in Maryland. I knew absolutely nothing about horse racing and that was confirmed by leaving the track a loser. However, the experience was fun and exciting to the point I continued going to all the big races annually. Fast forward to today, I still continue to go to all the big races and I’ve learned quite a bit about horse racing and betting through the years.
